Driver Hurt As Car Hits Bridge Barrier

A MAN, 41, was in a critical condition last night after his car hit a concrete barrier on the Five Islands Bridge.

Police believed the car crossed onto the wrong side of the Speers Point bridge about 4.30pm and hit the barrier by the side of the road.

A driver stopped and did CPR until police and paramedics arrived.

The accident blocked northbound traffic for 60 minutes.

Firefighters removed the wreck from the road and cleaned up fluids that were leaking from the car.
